Abstract

338,276. Menz, H., and Steffen, W. Sept. 23, 1929. Vaporizers, external. - The vaporizer comprises a gasifying chamber 6 heated by an electric resistance 4 in a chamber 3. The upper portion of chamber 6 is closed by heat-insulating material 8 through a central bore in which is a tube 9 through which can slide a tubular member 10 with rows oi perforations 11 at its lower end. The member 10 has at its upper end a flange 13 which carries a larger flange to which a flexible fuel pipe 21 is connected, the other end of the pipe leading from a tank 22. The tubular member 10, loaded by a spring 14, is raised and lowered by a screw 17 rotated from the dashboard and carried by a plate 16 supported by guide pillars 15. The fuel issues through the holes 11, drops on to the hot surface below, is gasified and the gas is discharged through a nozzle 5 into the air passage 2. If the heating system fails, fuel may be supplied through an auxiliary nozzle 20.
