Abstract
337,524. R÷hm, O. Dec. 6, 1928, [Convention date]. Oil tanning; tanning with special chemicals.- A substitute for egg yolk, particularly in the manufacture of glace leather, consists of an oil emulsion and an ester or esters formed from a di-or polyhydric alcohol and phosphoric acid. An emulsion of oil and water is prepared, if desired, with an emulsifier such as methyl cellulose, and mixed with the phosphoric acid ester, which may be conveniently glycerophosphoric acid or its' sodium salt. According to an example, hides are treated with a tanning liquor containing the above constituents and in addition meal, alum, and. sodium chloride.
