Abstract

336,120. McCullough, W. E. Oct. 28, 1929. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Spring surfaces. - Chair seats and backs, window screens, cloth screens, and like articles are constructed by stretching woven or like material 10 between two closelyfitting concentric frames 15, 16, and moulding a thermoplastic material 11 such as " Bakelite " about the frames so as substantially to conceal them and hold the woven &c. material under tension. In a modification two layers of textile fabric are used with padding between them to form an upholstered seat for example. In a further modification a disc of metal is provided with an angular groove 17 in place of the ring 16, and padding is held between a single layer of fabric and the metal disc.
