Abstract
329,538. Triggs, W. W., (Aktiebolaget Isoleringsmaterial). June 12, 1929. Compound sheet materials. - Relates to a machine for making heat-insulating and sound-insulating material of the kind in which a layer of sphagnum moss, sea grass, or like insulating material is enclosed between two webs of paper or fabric that are sewn together. According to the invention, the machine is provided with devices which fold over the edges of one of the webs so that the edges of the compound sheet are wholly closed. The machine comprises two rolls 4, 5 of paper or fabric from which webs 2, 3 respectively, are drawn over a table 1, and carried beneath a sewing-machine 30. A feeding belt 6 and distributors 7, 8 feed the insulating material and distribute it evenly between the webs. Folding- devices 27, placed on each side of the table 1, fold the edges of the web 3 over the edges of the web 2 and the folds are completed and pressed by a roller 28. A measuring-device 44 indicates the length of the finished web, and a cutting-device 45 may be provided to sever it when required.
