Pens and the like.-A show bench for animals at exhibitions that is capable of being readily assembled and dismantled comprises a floor 20 formed by floor boards in sections carried on horses 21, such floors being provided with backboard sections 22 resting on edge on the floor boards to divide the bench so that two rows of animals may be housed thereon. End boards 23 are secured to the floor by brackets and a skirting board 24, having vertical holes 25 drilled therethrough, is fitted at the front of the floor, which has corresponding holes drilled therein. The bench is subdivided by partition gratings 26 having front rods with projecting portions 28 to pass through the holes in the skirting board and the floor ; a projecting portion of the rear rod of each grating also enters one of a series of holes formed in the floor near the back board. The upper rod of the grating is formed at its rear end with a hooked portion 33 adapted to engage the upper edge, of the back board. The top and front of each bench are supported by an upper front rail 34 of angle section carried by vertical rods 35 having offset parts 36 at their lower ends so that when the main part of the rod' lies close to one of the partitions the extremity of the offset portion engages in the next hole in the skirting board. The reduced end of the upper part of each rod passes through one of a series of holes in the rod 34 and also through a hole in the flattened extremity of an horizontal tie-rod 39 hooked at its further end' over the back board. Hinged gratings 45, 46 cover the top of the bench, the edge of the grating 45 resting in the angle of the angle-rod 34 and the rear grating 46, which is provided along its lower edge with recesses at intervals, resting on the end boards and the tie members 39 and against the back board respectively. The front of each compartment is closed by a door that consists of a pair of hinged gratings 55, 56, the lower grating 56 forming a flap by lifting which food and water may be introduced. The upper grating is hinged by its top rail to brackets 57 adapted to slide on the angle rails 34.
