Band-saw machines.-In a tree-felling apparatus both saw pulleys are accessible from one side for ready removal of the saw, and the outer pulley e is adjustable by means of a screw h<1> engaging the pulley housing f and turned by a handle h, which is connected with the screw h<1> by an adjustable spring clutch so as to yield at a predetermined tension of the saw. The inner saw pulley c is driven by an internal - combustion engine through worm gearing r<1> in a casing rotatable about the engine shaft q so that the plane of the saw can be inclined. A suitable clutch x is formed to disconnect the engine from the worm, when the engine may be used to drive a sawgrinding wheel by means of a flexible shaft v. The apparatus is provided with lifting handles k<2>, rack-supported feet k and a central wheel (not shown). The guide bar for the saw has a steel wearing strip and lubricating channels.
