Abstract
328,366. Haykin, R. E., and Tri-Signs, Ltd. Feb. 23, 1929. Reel and endless web apparatus; endless chain carriers, apparatus with.-Means for effecting the intermittent traverse of display sheets carried by endless chains positioned at the upper and lower parts of a stationary case at more than one side of which the sheets can be viewed, consists of an electric motor 25, worm gearing 28, 29 adapted to be continuously rotated by the motor, a crank or eccentric continuously rotated by the worm gearing at a reduced speed, means co-acting with the crank of eccentric for imparting intermittent rotation to toothed gearing 33, 35, and chain and sprocket mechanism 36-40 adapted to be intermittently driven by the gearing 33, 35 to traverse the chains carrying the sheets. Fig. 6 shows a crank 30 rotated by the worm gearing, motion being conveyed therefrom to the gear wheel 33 by an adjustable crank pin, connecting rod 31, rocking lever 32 and pawl 34. Fig. 5 shows a modification in which a crank disc 19 rotated by the worm gearing carries pins 20 which engage slots 21<a> in a star wheel 21 connected to the toothed gearing. The display sheets 8 are attached to their carrying chains 7, Fig. 3, by coiled springs 9, &c. One or more of the crossbars supporting the sprockets over which the chains 7 run may be bodily adjusted by screws to tension the chain.
