Diaphragm and spring pressure gauges.-Comprises a pressure gauge for indicating liquid level in boilers and other containers by connecting the spaces above and below water level to the two sides of a diaphragm in a casing which may be at a lower level, and transmitting the movement of the diaphragm through a liquid-tight gland to a pointer outside the casing. The casing 5 contains a diaphragm 6 loaded by a flat spring 10 or by a weight, variable lever, or fusee, and carrying a short rod 7 movable between adjust. able stops 8, 9. The openings 11, 12 are connected to the water and steam spaces of a boiler drum, and the pipe connected to the opening 12 is provided at its highest point with a condenser so that a constant head of water is maintained in this pipe, while that in the other pipe varies with the level in the boiler. The rod 7 carries a pin 15 engaged by one end of a rod 16, Fig. 2, which is carried by a spindle 17 passing through a gland 18 and actuating an arm 20 carrying a rod 21. The rod 21 is connected by link 22 and arm 22<a> to a spindle 23, from which an arm 26 and link 27 extend to a counterweighted arm 28 on the spindle 29 which carries a pointer 13 moving over a dial in a plane parallel to the diaphragm. The spindle 29 may carry electric contacts 30 which engage other contacts 31 to actuate alarm bells or lamps. When used for containers other than boilers, a constant head is provided by an auxiliary tank.
