Urns.-The bottoms of urns and other liquid-heating vessels are formed with radial flutings A leading either to apertures B formed in a depending portion of the side wall of the vessel, as shown in Fig. 1, or to vertical channels or flutings formed in the side wall. Fig. 2 shows a detachable heat - retaining screen for use with the vessel, made of aluminium or other metal, and provided internally with baffles C forming spiral channels for the flame gases, the whole being pressed or shaped from a single piece of metal. The upper edge of the screen is preferably crimped inwardly as at D. The invention is shown as applied to a kettle. Specifications 201,850, 212,859, and 267,711, [all in Class 66, Hollow-ware], are referred to.
