Abstract

Dry processes of refining copper.-A bath of refined molten copper has a protective molten layer of a sodium silicate or silicates which is maintained over the bath during the casting operation. The melting point of the slag may be varied by mixing silicates of different melting points, or by adding lime or calcium fluoride.
