Abstract
311,067. Swain, F. E. April 11, 1928. Disc-engine type; regulating motors and pumps. - A rotary engine, pump, or the like, comprises a cylindrical casing 1 in which rotates an eccentric rotor 3 with an oblique slot 4 to receive an oblique cylindrical ring 2 extending to the casing periphery. Fig. 2 shows a construction with two oppositely inclined oblique rings 2; fluid passes alternately to the central and the two end working chambers through triangular ports 8 under the control of the cylindrical rings 2 which may be driven from the rotor 3 through Oldham couplings. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, the rotor 3 extends to the casing periphery and is centrally mounted while the oblique cylindrical ring 2 is mounted with variable eccentricity in the casing 1 by an adjustable eccentric bush 10.
