Abstract
318,876. Reisz, E. June 8, 1928. Condenser telephones.-In an electrostatic loud-speaker of the kind comprising a thin, untensioned membrane 1 with a conductive coating and a rigid, perforated, conducting plate 2, the perforations 3 are opened out, as shown, in a round line or curve in the direction of the membrane. The plate 2 is preferably perforated by a tool which first removes the material around the holes, and only actually breaks through the plate to form the holes after it has penetrated to the required depth of the countersinking. Material is thus perforated in sheets, from which loud-speaker discs 2 are stamped. The membrane 1 is preferably formed of rubber of 0.04 to 0.05 millimetres thickness.
