Vacuum cleaners.-The edge of the nozzle is provided with a resilient or flexible element which serves to agitate fibrous matter on the surface being cleaned. A portion of the leading edge a of the nozzle b is recessed at c and a strip f of indiarubber, leather, felt or other yieldable material inserted in the recess. The strip f is clamped by a recessed plate g, held by set screws h, and so positioned that its bottom edge is on the same level as the rest of the beading a. The strip f may be serrated or ridged, or more than one strip may be used.
