Abstract
317,805. Waele, A. de. Feb. 23, 1928. Stencils.-In stencil-sheet coating-compositions of the kind comprising gelatinizing organic colloids dispersable in aqueous media, in association with water-insoluble and non-hygroscopic bodies as the sole or main tempering-agents, a water-insoluble soap is employed as the tempering-agent for the gelatinizing constituent. The soaps of ricinoleic acid are preferred as they have no deleterious effects on the rubber parts of a typewriter. A volatile base such as ammonia may be included in the composition to ensure the formation of a disperse system of the oil-in-water type while permitting by its evaporation the subsequent formation of a disperse system of the water-in-oil type. The composition may, for example, comprise an aqueous dispersion of gelatine and casein, ricinoleic acid, titanium white pigment, ammonium hydrate, and zinc ricinoleic acid soap.
