Driving-gear.-A blower for use with gas generators mounted upon motor vehicles has a handle and an electric motor permanently mounted upon its casing, so that either of them can be coupled to the rotor of the blower. The rotor consists of blades 7 on a hub 8 caused, by the key 6, to rotate with the shaft 5; the shaft, however, can occupy two different positions axially in the rotor, these being defined by the engagement of a spring-pressed ball 10 with recesses in the shaft. With the parts in the position shown in the Figure, the rotor is driven by the handle 1 through gearing 3, 4. If the knob 16 be depressed the gear wheels 3, 4 are disengaged and the arm 12 on the disc 11 enters one of the holes 15 in a disc on the shalt of the motor 14 so that the blower can be driven by the motor. Air enters through the openings 18 and is discharged through the conduit 23 which terminates in a flange 24 secured to the generator. The openings 18 may be closed by a shutter 21 operated externally by an arm 22.
