317,156. Burns, W. A. May 30, 1928. Signs of the " front-lighted '' type have the mirrors and coloured panels so arranged that the light traverses the panels once only. Fig. 2 shows moulded glass having a silvered back a and formed with prisms P. Coloured slips H may be cemented to the lower faces of the prisms. The silvering may be omitted in places to allow of the passage of rays k from an artificial source behind the glass. In another device, Fig. 4, mirrors M and coloured slips H are mounted as shown on a ribbed glass backing G. Lamps may be mounted over the trough formed by the parts M, H in a similar arrangement. The slips H may be mounted at intervals on a glass panel F, Fig. 6, placed in front of a series of mirrors M mounted on a grooved backing G so that the principal incident rays are reflected through the slips. In a modified arrangement one inclined reflecting sheet M is used, the sheet F being parallel to it. The sheet F with coloured strips C may also be placed parallel to a vertical sheet of glass of serrated section, Fig. 3, the imclined faces at the back of which act as mirrors.
