Abstract

314,906. Chadwick, V. R. April 18, 1928. Smoke &c., washing.-A section 10 of a partition built across the main flue 13 of a furnace installation carries a number of Venturi tubes 15 with steam or water jets 16. Dampers 17 are provided in a section 11 of the partition for byepassing the tubes, and, dampers 19 in the flue roof are so mounted that when open they prevent the gases passing through the tubes which may be removed for cleaning. A sump 22 with a downwardly sloping bottom leading away from the flue is arranged near to the tube outlets. and a baffle 26 extending downwardly from the roof may also be provided.
