Abstract
300,831. Marks, E. C. R., (Wyman- Gordon Co.). Jan. 16, 1928. Balancing moving parts by weights.-In a sixthrow crank shaft having a bearing on each side of each crank pin, dynamic forces are balanced by means of four counterweights 60 - - 63. The weights 60, 63 are adjacent the end bearings 20, 26, and the weights 61, 62 are arranged on each side of the centre bearing 23. The counterweights 60, 63 are'diametrically opposite to the weights 61, 62 and the line joining the centre of mass of the weights to the axis is substantially perpendicular to the centre line of the second crank pin 31 or 34 from the end of the shaft. The weights may be welded or attached to the crank webs or forged therewith; they may balance the big ends of the connecting-rods.
