Balls, brushing and cleaning.-Apparatus for cleaning golf and other balls comprises one or more travelling bands or belts adapted to convey the balls through a receptacle containing cleansing fluid, and one or more brush members cperating to scrub the balls. An endless band 4, Fig. 4, passing round pulleys 5, 6 is moved in the direction of the arrows by a manually rotated shaft 7. Balls contained in a tube 13 are fed singly by a notched disc 11, driven bv the band 4, on to the upper surface of the band, and are carried by the latter downwardly through a cleansing bath 2 and then upwardly in contact with brushes 17, 18. The balls emerge from the device through a shoot 32, lined with towelling, down which they are urged by an endless band 33 driven from the shaft 7. The brush 17 and the two brushes 18 are oscillated by a shaft 24 geared to the shaft 7, the two oscillations being 180‹ out of phase. In a modification, Fig. 5 the balls pass directly from the tube 13 to the band 4, the feed being controlled by two spring-pressed arms 45, the ends 45<a> of which normally enter the tube but are alternately removed therefrom, to allow the passage of a ball, by cams 48 on a gear wheel 25 driven by the shaft 17. The band may be provided with diagonal ridges to rotate the ball.
