Non - metallic elastic bodies; tread surfaces-A solid rubber tyre is formed with laterally - projecting flanges 4 adapted to support normal loads so that the centre concave tread portion 5 engages the ground only under excessive load or shock. The tyre may be reinforced with fabric 8, and the tread portion 5 may be formed with grooves 6, or spaced cavities.
