Abstract

307,830. Siemens - Elektro - Osmose Ges. March 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Latex, coagulating. - Rubber is deposited electrophoretically from latex to which has been added a dielectric liquid in such quantity as to render possible the use of direct current of not less than 250 volts. In an example, glycerine is added in the proportion 1 : 1 to an ammoniacal latex solution, and the mixture is subjected to direct current at 2,000 volts: rubber separates at the anode. Separation at the cathode may be effected by addition to the latex of a small quantity of a compound having a cation of valency greater than two, e.g. thorium nitrate, the pH value having been previously adjusted to somewhat less than 7. Deposition may be effected on a porous body arranged in front of one of the electrodes.
