Furnace details.-A plurality of pneumatic cylinders 1 are arranged symmetrically around the electrode, the piston rod 5 of each cylinder carrying a pinion 7 engaging a stationary rack 8 and a movable rack 9 to which is pivoted a yoke carrying poking and stirring rods 10. The cylinders are mounted on a circular support 2 oscillated by means of a cylinder 18.
