Abstract
291,028. Rowland, D. H. May 24, 1927, [Convention date]. Insulators. - An insulator comprises glazed porcelain shells 1, 2, a supporting pin 5, which has grooves or ridges 6, being secured by cement in a preferably knurled socket 3 in the lower shell 1. The shell 2 carries a metal cap 8 secured by cement 9 and cushioned by an asphaltum layer 10. The stem 12 of the shell 1, of inverted frustro-conical form with a constricted neck portion 13, fits within a recess 15 in the shell 2. the stem 12 and the wall of the recess 15 being preferably knurled. The walls of the stem 12 and the recess 15 are glazed throughout and the shells 1, 2 are secured together by cement 18 which is stated to act as a lock rather than as an adhesive. The top of the stem 12 is preferably coated with cushioning material. Specification 280,894 is referred to.
