Exhaust-silencers. - Exhaust enters a cylindrical casing a through perforations d and a slot e in a wedge-shaped end of a pipe c; some of the gas passes beneath a partition m and into a chamber o through a number of perforations q in a partition n and a slotted end s and perforations r in a tube t which is behind the central section of the casing; the remainder of the gas is ejected through slots k by gas passing through a slot f and along a passage h behind a series of vanes l protecting the slots k. This stream of gas escaping at the opening i assists in ejecting the gas from the chamber o through the same opening.
