Abstract

282,002. Arnold Print Works, (Assignees of Degoncz, D., and Jones, A. S.). Dec. 9, 1926, [Convention date]. Inkless printing by chemical reaction; resist printing.-Cellulose fabrics such as cotton fabrics are given a linen appearance by impregnating with caustic alkali, drying, and treating the dried fabric with cuprammonium solution. According to another part of the invention, pattern effects are produced by applying at least one of the reagents locally with or without drying the fabric between the treatments. The printing may be carried out by padding, or printing, or by the use of resists as described in Specification 276,877, or the fabric treated wth alkali may be printed with a printing paste composed of a solution of copper sulphate in water added to a solution of cotton flock dissolved in caustic alkali and ammonia. According to the material treated and the strength of the caustic alkali bath, corduroy, leather-like, lustrous, and ornamental pattern effects may be produced.
