Abstract
289,870. American Metal Cap Co., (Assignees of Hammer, C.). May 5, 1927, [Convention date]. Cap - stoppers bayonet.joint. - A container is formed with a thread having a lengthwise extending inclined under-face, terminating in a straight face merging into a stop face, and having its top and bottom faces tapered and curved, the bottom face tapering with less angularity than the top face. Between the top of the neck 3 of the container 2 and a shoulder formed thereon, are threads 5 spaced from the shoulder by an annular groove 6. The undersides of the threads incline downwards to shorter straight portions 11 which merge into stop faces 12 at the seam of the container. The top surface of the thread is inclined to the container as also is the bottom face but to a less degree, the respective angularities. as shown in Fig. 3 being 35‹ and 10‹. The container is closed by a cap 15, Fig. 7, having a depending skirt provided with a beaded edge 18 having arc-shaped inset lugs 19 with the curvature of their inner faces corresponding with the curvature of the neck at the underside of the threads.
