Abstract
288,818. Leaf, A. E. April 22, 1927. Road-traffic signals on vehicles.-A semaphore for movement in horizontal and vertical planes is mounted in the car roof with operating- handles near the driver's head, and before being turned horizontally the de. vice must first be lifted slightly. The semaphore having a reflector a<2> on each side is pivoted at a<1> upon a tube b which has a squared end b<1> fitting a square head b<2> which terminates in a handle d. The square head b<2> engages a socket c<2> on the roof of the car r. so that to turn the semaphore horizontally to left or right, it normally lying fore and aft of the car, the handle d is first raised and then turned after the head b<2> has cleared the socket c<2>. A chain h joins the semaphore to a tube e slidable on the tube band having a pin e<1> which moves in slots in this tube b. Attached to pin e<1> is a chain g<1> and handle g<2> which is used to vibrate the semaphore vertically.
