Pistons.-In devices for holding piston rings contracted round a piston to facilitate fitting into a cylinder, having a flexible band encircling the rings, the flexible band a is tightened by screwing the bolt h in the nut d to move lengthwise of the handle the free end g, the band being passed round the ring x threaded through holes g<4> in the handle g and secured over a pin f, the other end of the band being held by a pin c on the handle. Curved slotted plates b are adjustably spaced on the band to effect the actual contraction of the ring. The free end of the band mav have several holes to pass over the pin f to accommodate various sized piston rings.
