287,085. Booth, W. N. March 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Spokes, securing and adjusting; hubs. - The hub of a wire-spoked wheel is formed of two telescoping sheet-metal parts which are axially adjusted after assemblage of the spokes to tension the latter. In the construction shown, the wheel comprises two sets of spokes 5, 6 secured respectively to hub-members 3, 16, the rear flanges of which are adapted to abut with one another and be bolted to a flange of the permanent hub 1. After adjustment of the hub-parts 3, 16 to set up the required tension in the spokes, a series of lugs 28 (or an annular rib) is struck up from the part 3 to engage the edge of the part 16. The hub parts are so shaped that the spoke tension is increased when the wheel is clamped to the permanent hub.
