Abstract

286,864. Molins, W. E. Feb. 19, 1927. Cigarette-making machines.-In a tobaccofeeding apparatus of the kind in which a roller 2 in the base of a. hopper 1 feeds tobacco to a combing-roller 3 which carries it beneath a brushing-roller 4, the carded roller 2 is so arranged that short shreds of tobacco are permitted to pass between the carding on the feeding-roller into a trough 11, from which they are automatically conveyed and distributed over the surface of the tobacco in the hopper. As shown, the short shreds are conveyed by a worm 12 in the trough 11 and a worm 14 in an inclined trough 13 to a horizontal trough 15 in which a worm 16 rotates. The short shreds fall from the trough 15 on to the tobacco in the hopper through a slot 17 adjusted by means of a plate 18. At the end remote from the inclined conveyer,..the slot 17 is widened to allow any tobacco reaching this end to fall. Specification 249,575 is referred to.
