Abstract

286,089. Jones, E. H., and Williams, S. March 2, 1927. Reworking worn articles.-Shafts, pins, pistons, cylinders, bushes and other articles having surfaces subject to wear, have the worn surfaces renewed by laying wire or metal strip in a series of adjacent turns on the surface and welding or brazing the wire to the surface, the treated sur. face then being machined to size. The wire may be capable of being hardened, as by quenching immediately after the welding &c. The wire may be of a metal similar to that of the article, or of a different metal in order to impart different surface properties to the article.
