Abstract

285,878. British Tabulating Machine Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Lake, C. D.). Feb. 24, 1927, [Convention date]. Statistical apparatus. - A recordcard blank for use in a statistical machine is provided with a tear-off stub or counterfoil to serve as a receipt, voucher or tally and the line of separation of this part with the record-card proper is formed by one or more slits with unsevered portions at the ends of the slit or slits which are weakened in a region wholly within the card proper so that when the stub part is separated the edge of the card will not be uneven apart from the small notches therein which will not interfere with the passage of the card through the machine. As shown in Fig. 2, the stub and card proper are separated by cleancut slits 3 the ends 4 of which are indented into the body of the card so that when separated the ragged edge of the indentation, formed at 5, will be out of alignment with the edge 3. One slit only may be formed in the card. the unsevered portions lying then between the ends of the slit and the edges of the card.
