Abstract

284,898. Wells, A. R. April 13, 1927. Pins, dowel; spiked plates.-Nails or dowels or like fasteners comprise a central portion b. Fig. 10, and two or more spikes c, d on each side of the central portion having their ends so bevelled that on being driven into the material to be secured the fangs on each side are diverted in different directions as shown in Fig. 1a. The connecting part b may be wedgeshaped so that it may be driven into the work and shoulders a may be provided for engagement by a driving tool. The central portion may take the form of a plate with up-turned flanges around the edges, or lateral projections c, Fig. 13, may extend from the central portion to prevent the fastener from being driven more than halfway into the material.
