Abstract

Push plates and scrapers, construction of.-A mining and loading machine is provided with a chain carrying combined conveyer flights and cutting tools which undercut and convey away the material being mined, the tools comprising bits carried in heads adjustably mounted on the flight-bars. In Fig. 1, conveyer flights B are pivoted at 2 to the chain A and at their outer ends have forwardly and upwardly projecting tongues 6 with serrated sides; blocks 8, 9 are adjustably secured to the flights by bolts 13 and have serrations meshing with the serrations of the tongues 6, cutters 5 being secured between the blocks 8, 9 by a bolt 17. In Fig. 4, a single block 4, carrying cutters 5, has a tongue 21 projecting between spaced ears 19 on the flight B and is pivoted with end play on a bolt 20; the block is adjusted to the desired position and serrations 23 thereon are then meshed with serrations on the ears 19, the bolt 20 being then tightened to lock the block. In Fig. 6, the block 4 is pivotally mounted between ears 26 by a bolt 27; after adjustment of the block, a key 32 with serrations 33 is slid into a groove and engages serrations 34 on the block to hold the latter.
