Abstract

270,569. Staines, F. Nov. 6, 1926. Plates, dishes, and the like, washing. - The plates &c. are rotated between rotary cleaning bodies in the form of discs or flaps of rubber or other flexible material. The rotary cleaning bodies 13, 14 are driven from the motor 6 through worm gearing and the plates are supported between the cleaners by a roller 16 and are given a reciprocating motion, in addition to the rotation produced by the motion of the cleaners, by a skew disc 15 or a disc formed with a cam surface. Alternatively the cleaners themselves may be reciprocated. The plates &c. are so supported by the roller that they tend to fall towards the skew wheel, and not more than half the surface of a plate is covered by the cleaners at any time. The cleaners 14 comprise spaced discs, and the cleaners 13 comprise flaps of rubber secured to a hub 11, the striking faces of the flaps being recessed as at x to adhere to the plates &c. by suction. Alternatively, the cleaners may comprise rubber discs deeply serrated to produce flaps. The skew or cam disc may be dispensed with and the discs set at an angle on their shafts.
