279,927. Rowntree & Co., Ltd., (Pneumatic Scale Corporation, Ltd.). July 20, 1926. Opening by tearing.-A carton for sweetmeats, &c. of the kind formed from a one-piece blank into an oblong box by glueing together overlapping opposite edges, the smaller ends having two or more projecting flaps 1 which are folded over to close the ends but are not lucked inside the box, ha.s one of the larger sides weakened by scorings, indentations, perforations, &c. at 8 to outline a lid with a front tab 6 which can be torn to form a lid hinging about an edge 9. A gap 5 formed in the front wall allows pressure to be applied directly to the tab 6 to effect the tearing and serves also as a means whereby the tab may be engaged to hold the lid in closed position.
