Abstract
278,070. Longenecker, L. S. June, 28, 1926. Roofs. - Integral blocks or tiles for furnace roofs are provided with a retaining portion offset from the plane of the adjacent face and widening progressively from the top of the block to the bottom. In the illustrated form. blocks or tiles 2 are interlocked bv triangular projections 3 engaging similarly-shaped recesses in the adjacent block with a slight clearance so that. in the event of a block breaking, it falls slightly as shown at 10, Fig. 5, but cannot become detached from the roof. The edges of the projections and recesses are made slightly wedge-shaped and the corners are rounded to facilitate moulding. The projections and recesses are used with the apex uppermost.
