Abstract

Bookbinding-machines; sheet material binding edges of.-In devices for applying a flexible coverling material, such as leather, upon the round corners of book covers and other articles, or sheet materials, of the kind wherein a, vertically movable disc or stamp co-operates with an angle-block to fold the covering material over the round corner of a book &c. inserted between them, the working face g, Fig. 2, of the die f is provided with straight grooves h which run radially towards the rounded corner thereof. The die may be of the kind provided with a, small spring-pressed plunger i, which in the inoperative position of the machine projects from the working face, and on the downward stroke brings the corner to be covered and the covering material into the angle-block b, Fig. 1, the edges of the covering material being gathered and created by the radially grooved face of the die. An adjusting-screw d is provided to vary the portion of the angle-block relatively to the die, clamping- screws c being provided to secure it in position on the base-plate a.
