Description

TITLE: ORAL COMPOSITIONS
BACKGROUND
This invention relates to oral compositions, more particularly but not exclusively oral care compositions comprising a source of cannabinoid, more particularly of cannabidiol (CBD).
For some years, at least as early as 2017, toothpastes have been known comprising CBD for its beneficial effects. (I) For example the "CBD TEETH WHITENING TOOTHPASTE" on the 2017 South African website: httos://puresmile.co./a/producUebd-toeff-whitening-toothpastei which states the following: Main Benefits: * Gum regeneration * Bone stimulating properties * Anti-inflammatory * Fights bad breath * Antioxidant properties * Relieves toothache * Reduces sensitivity * Fights plaque * Prevents decay * Anti -Bacterial Common oral care products like fluoride toothpaste do not do nearly enough to protect your mouth. In fact, their ingredients are known to compromise the health of your mouth instead! And that is why we have come CO up with a product that still whitens the teeth, and is also healthy, natural and has protective properties such as CBD oil! 00 CBD Oil has the power to restore, strengthen and enhance oral health as it is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and bone stimulant substance. Even if it only prevents the variables that cause C) 25 cavities, decay, and gum disease; it accelerates the healing process for existing damage mid rebalances your 0 vulnerable oral microbiome.
If you wear dentures or other dental prosthetics, being vulnerable to inflammation, gum disease, and other complications, the CBD toothpaste penetrates through the tissue of your gums to slow, stop and prevent inflammation-causing destruction to your jawbone.
CBD has antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are natural chemicals known to prevent and delay cell damage by balancing free radicals and blocking the damage they cause. Free radicals exist in so many forms that it's impossible to shield your mouth or body from their dangers: * Environmental toxins like tobacco, pollution and pesticides * Ultraviolet rays * Substances found in processed and relined foods * Chemicals that your body produces * These unstable molecules interrupt cell function and cause significant damage to the body. CBD strengthens cell protection against free radicals and supports healthier gum tissue in the mouth.

Since this has a large amount of background and 0 relevant information, in the public domain at this date, it is as a matter of convenience hereby imported in its entirety into the present description, actually and/or by reference.
O THE INVENTION.
The present inventor has noted that there are disorders of the body, particularly associated with the body not taking up enough oxygen, and has found that these can be ameliorated by enhancing the ability of the body to take up oxygen. Thus, such disorders constitute a group, the characteristic of which is that they can be ameliorated by enhancing the ability of the body to lake up oxygen. This is to be done by supplying, essentially to the bloodstream, a substance to enhance the ability of the body to take up oxygen, herein and/or in the claims called an oxygen-enhancer, or supplying to the body a source substance from which the body may derive such an oxygen-enhancer. Such oxygen-enhancer and such source substance are both termed herein and/or in the claims an oxygenator. Accordingly, 'an oxygenator as herein defined' is hereby defined as a substance which can be supplied to the body, usually to the bloodstream, to enhance the ability of the body to take up oxygen, or a source from which the body may derive such a substance. The term 'oxygenator' where used herein and in the claims has this meaning. Such oxygen-enhancing action of any such oxygenator, supplied via the digestive tract, has been found by the inventor to be largely negated by actions of the digestive tract or following from them, for example, the oxygenator having to pass through the liver. The inventor has found that a convenient and more direct method of introducing such a substance to the bloodstream gives a greatly enhanced effect.
This method is to introduce the oxygenator via an oral care or like composition e.g. toothpaste, mouthwash or chewing gum, which has the effect that the oxygenator is mainly introduced directly, e.g. through the gums or under the tongue, i.e. through the skin of the mouth (or the oral membrane or oral mucosa), into the bloodstream. For the avoidance of doubt, a 'like composition' is hereby defined as one which, like oral care compositions, is intended to remain in the mouth for a while (in contrast to being immediately swallowed), e.g. like food or drink, (e.g. a minimum of 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds, or more, e.g. chewing gum) which will give time for the oxygenator to penetrate through oral skin (skin of the mouth) etc into the bloodstream, avoiding the need ND1 = Not Detected L.C.A1 = Lable Claim in mg/g Percent Decarboxylated: -0% Total THC: ((THCA*0.877)+ d9-THC) rye Total CBD: ((CBDA*0.877)+ CBD) Results arc not moisture normalized. (i.c., percent of total weight) to go through the digestive tract, and not requiring to be injected into the body.
While, for example, said oxygenator may be synthetic, better and more body-friendly mechanisms for such oxygenation take-up result from using natural sources. For example, a composition comprising one or more so-called berry fruits can provide said oxygenator. Again, an indirect oxygenator can be provided by a source of vitamin C or a substance which enhances the body's ability to take up vitamin C. it is found that the enhanced vitamin C leads to enhanced take-up by the body of oxygen. Thus, anything that can provide enhanced vitamin C, essentially direct to the bloodstream, is an oxygenator. The inventor has found that a composition comprising one or more citrus fruits can provide a vitamin C oxygenator. The following references indicate that all or most citrus fruits can provide a vitamin C oxygenator: hfips://www.vervwcilhealtlicom/citrus-fruits-7498754 https://www. nhs.uk/conditi ons/vitami n s-and-mi nera skitamin-c/ Said composition preferably comprises an essential oil of one or more said fruits. The inventor considers, and has confirmed by trials, that use of one or more of both citrus fruits and berry fruits can act synergistically, i.e. more than simply the sums of the enhancements due to either the citrus fruits group or the berry fruits group used without the other.
Reference is directed to the online article in Wikipedia entitled "Essential Oil" (and references therein and their various precautions) to indicate which essential oils can safely be used (herein referred to as 'safe'), e.g. GRAS substances. Further reference is made to the papers by Dr Mestri mentioned herein. These references also indicate the compositions, or likely compositions, or standard compositions, of essential oils, that may be used in embodiments of the invention.
Further, the inventor has found that use of CBD in an oral care or like preparation greatly enhances the efficacy CO of such a mechanism. This is in spite of references in prior examples (1) and (2) to CBD having anti-oxidant properties to enhance oral health. For example, the present inventor has found that a toothpaste combining CBD and fruit juice helps the body's uptake of oxygen, synergistically, i.e. more than simply the addition of the CO 25 uptakes due to using fruit juice and CBD separately.
0 Again, the present inventor has found that the addition of preparations of one or more of what is herein termed a 0 minerals group, namely, a group comprising precious metals, precious stones, precious minerals, crystals, semiprecious stones, semiprecious crystals and monatomic molecular materials, can have an anti-inflammatory effect, as exemplified below, but particularly can enhance the said mechanisms synergistically, i.e. more than simply the sums of the enhancements due to one or more of either or both of said fruit groups and any one or more of said minerals group alone. Members of this group can also serve as an abrasive, e.g. in a toothpaste. They can usefully be included in the compositions in a weight-in-weight proportion in the range of from half a percent to 1°A, singly, or those which are used taken together.
One aspect of the present invention provides an oral care or like composition that comprises an oxygenator as herein defined, to be used in a method of treatment of the human or animal body by therapy practised on the body. This is preferably to be done by using the oxygenator as a medicament acting through the oral tissue (which term is used herein to include any one or more of the skin of the mouth, the oral membranes, the oral mucosa, any of which terms may overlap or be identical in extent). This is in order to reach the bloodstream, to achieve a systemic effect (in contrast to simply a local or topical effect, e.g. within the oral cavity) and/or to enhance the body's ability to take up vitamin C and/or oxygen.
Another aspect of the present invention provides an oral care or like composition that comprises an oxygenator as herein defined, to be used in a method of treatment of the human or animal body by therapy practised on the human or animal body to enhance the body's ability to take up vitamin C and/or oxygen.

INDEPENDENT EXTERNAL (CERTIFIED) TRIALS PROTOCOL TITLE. A trial to see if the addition of [a] Citrus fruit and/or [b] Berry fruit, to a cannabinoid oral care composition with a xanthan gum, can increase the oxygen levels in its users.
ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study is to evaluate a relationship that might exist between increased oxygenation via the use of an oral care composition containing (i) cannabinoid (ii) xanthan gum (iii) a citrus and/or (iv) a berry.
BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE OF PRELIMINARY STUDIES.
I. For the purpose of this study, lemon will bc used with the assumption that all citrus fruits have the same identified benefit of increased oxygen uptake. It is common general knowledge that all citrus fruits have similar benefits in relation to vitamin C. 2. For the purpose of this study, strawberry will be used with the assumption that all berry fruits (including banana, pineapple, pumpkin, tomato) have the same identified benefit of increased oxygen uptake. It is common general knowledge that all berry fruits have similar benefits in relation to vitamins C.
STUDY AIMS
The research is required to see if the addition of [a] Citrus fnUt and/or [b] Berry fruit, to a cannabinoid oral care composition with xanthan gum, can increase the oxygen levels in its users. (The answer is, yes, but for details see the internal tests below, particularly regarding synergistic increase.) The measurement of oxygen levels will be determined by use of a clinical oximeter.
ADMINISTRATION
The method of testing will be undertaken over an 8 week period, home visits and use of a clinical oximeter.
STUDY DESIGN
The study will be using 10 participants aged between 18 -60.

CONCLUSION, TABLE I
Based on the testing group and the parameters, it appears that there is a relationship between the oral care composition and the increase in oxygen levels, namely, a consistent increase in the oxygenation when using LCBD compared with using NCBD.
There is an assumption is that a composition containing any [a] citrus and/or any [b] berry fruit will achieve the same results as any other of these, based on the facts that the respective fruits have similar properties in terms of increasing oxygen levels. (For the basis of this assumption, see the above references.) TABLE 2 (second trial usin LCBD) The participant had mucositis inflammation and IBS resulting from treatment for cancer.
The trial results given below in Table 2, unlike those in Table 1 above, which show the comparative effects of using different components for the composition, arc included because they show an interesting conclusion, see note (iv).

The participant confirmed that, from Day 4, mouth ulcers and IBS (together with pains in the stomach) had practically ceased. (IBS is inflammation of the gastro-intestinal tract.)

O
Based on the testing parameters, it appears that there is a relationship between the concentration of fruit in the oral care composition and the increase in oxygen levels, between concentration levels of %O.5-%1.25.
There is an assumption that a composition containing any [a] citrus and/or any [b] berry fruit will achieve the same results as any other of these, based on the facts that the respective fruits have similar properties in terms of ability to increase oxygen levels.
1N-HOUSE TRIALS Using the above external trials as a model, similar in-house clinical trials (using a urine strip test) showed that with each of the citrus fruits there was a significant increased uptake of vitamin C. Similar in-house clinical trials (using an oximeter) showed that with each of the berry fruits there was a significant increased systemic uptake of oxygen.
Similar in-house clinical trials (using an oximeter) showed that with each of the minerals there was a significant increased systemic uptake of oxygen.
The aforesaid monatomic molecular materials are elements and, as a subgroup, comprise gold, platinum, silver, carbon, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, sodium, nickel, zinc. Similar in-house clinical trials (using an oximeter) showed that with each of the minerals of this subgroup as, or as part of, the oxygenator there was a significant increased systemic uptake of oxygen, moreover this (in conjunction with the use of fruit) was -12 -found to be a synergistic increase compared with that due to the fruit alone or these minerals alone, all excluding those which are poisonous.
The trials were conducted multiply, using 1%, 3% and 5% of the oxygenator and again of each (or each combination) of the essential oils and/or minerals where two or more were used together in the oxygenator, with and without CBD, all in respective trials.
Embodiments of this invention have been found to produce in the body an increased systemic uptake of oxygen. Thus, embodiments of the invention comprise: respective oral care or like compositions comprising as an oxygenator each one of the following citrus fruits, namely, orange, mandarin orange; tangerine, blood orange, tangelo, bitter orange, yuzu, grapefruit, pomelo, ugh fruit, kumquat, citron, calamondin, lemon, key lime, finger lime and persian lime; all excluding those which are poisonous or poisonous when unripe; respective oral care or like compositions comprising as an oxygenator each one of the following berry fruits, namely, acai berry, barberry, bilberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, boysenberries, chokeberry, cloudberry, cranberry, elderberry, gooseberry, huckleberry, juneberry, kiwi berry, lingonberry, loganberry, mulberry, raspberry, redcurrant, salmonberry, sea buckthorn berry, strawberry, tayberry, bananas, grapes, cucumbers, tomatoes, oranges, watermelons, pumpkins and pineapples; all excluding those which are poisonous or poisonous when unripe; respective oral care or like compositions comprising as an oxygenator each one of the following other sources of essential oils, namely, rose, mint, menthol, peppermint, other common members of the mint family, and others mentioned in the articles by Dr Mestri; all excluding those which are poisonous or Cr) poisonous when unripe or over ripe; respective oral care or like compositions comprising as an oxygenator each one of the following minerals, namely, gold, gold dust, gold salts, silver, silver dust, silver salts, diamonds and other 00 precious stones, crystals and semiprecious crystals, quartz, rose quartz, and monoatomic molecular 0 25 materials, namely, gold, platinum, silver, carbon, calcium, copper, iron, magmesium, manganese, sodium, nickel, zinc; all excluding those which are poisonous. Such oxygenator may additionally act O as an abrasive.
Most of the foregoing have been very successfully trialled, with and without CBD, all in respective trials.
Regarding the essential oil purity, the inventor has noted the above-mentioned online article by Dr Mestri; and from his own in-house trials that the percentage of fruit (essential oil) is preferred to be roughly the same for single fruit or multiple fruits used together. The inventor notes that too much fruit (it will be clear That references herein to "fruit" should be read as references to "fruit essential oil" and so on as the case may be), say, >5%, will imbalance the flavour and also change the viscosity of the composition to being too watery and concludes from his in-house trials that the preferred range of total essential oil should be 1% to 5%, though the range could still be useful down to 0.5% or even to 0.1%. Percentages stated herein are to be understood as substantially those percentages.
Some examples are now given in the following tables of a selection of many similar in-house clinical trials which were carried out, all using one of the 'COMPOSITIONS' listed below, apart from an added ingredient of one or more of CBI), essential oil (usually fruit) and mineral (preferably gold salt). A large number of in-house trials were conducted along the same lines as the certified trial described above; but no further details are given here because to do so would be unduly burdensome: it is considered that any competent skilled person can trial similarly from the above-given external trial details and a note of the parameters to be Mailed.
The fruits and other essential oils would not normally be expected to be mixed except as required by flavour or marketing. Trials are still ongoing but are believed to be only confirmatory.
