Abstract
A stator core 1 for a stator (3, fig 3) of an electric machine (5, fig 3) preferably in a vehicle (V, fig 1). The stator core 1 has a central stator axis (X1, fig 2); and a plurality of winding slots 15. At least one first cooling duct 33A, 33B is provided extending substantially parallel to the central stator axis and is radially separated from the winding slots 15 by a region of the stator core 1. The or each first cooling duct 33A has a first profile in transverse section, including a first edge 41A-1 disposed in a radially innermost position which extends substantially perpendicular to a radial axis of the stator core 1, to improve cooling. Second cooling ducts 33B may be provided with an edge 41B-1, substantially perpendicular to the radial axis disposed in a radially outermost position. The cooling ducts may have fins, from their corners, edges or both.
