Ratchet and like step-by-step conveyers and elevators.-A machine for making hay into cocks is provided with an elevator 1 extending from the ground upwardly and forwardly, the hay being lifted and carried upward by jigging-rakes 2, which are provided at their upper ends with horizontal portions 16 extending rearwardly and provided with teeth 12 projecting throughslots in a hay-receiving platform 7 situated at the upper end of the elevator and extending rearwardly to the hay-mould 11. The upper end of the elevator is formed with a curve 5 to direct the hay tn the platform, and a canvas wind shield may be fitted on its top. The elevator, which is actuated from the land-wheels through a countershaft 44, is adjustable by a hand-lever 34 as described in Specification 183,322.
