Abstract
269,824. Allison, A., and Napier, G. A. Jan. 29, 1927. Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid.-In a depth gauge of the type in which the depth is indicated by the pressure required to force air through an open-ended pipe extending to the required depth, the air is replenished as required by a hand pump e and a valve device h is provided to place either the pump e or the gauge g in communication with the immersed pipe d. The valve casing h is provided with couplings, i to the gauge g, j to the pump e, and c to the immersed pipe d. The passages j is provided with a non-return valve k. and in the position shown, the non-return valve m prevents passage of air from the pump e to the gauge g or pipe d while placing the two latter in communication. A hand-operated screw-down valve s is adapted to close the passage o leading to the chamber q and coupling i, and at the same time to push the valve m off its seating to allow air to pass through the passage p to the pipe d. The back of the valve s is provided with a leakagepreventing ring t which seats against the casing.
