Abstract

Closure members, rotary cylindrical.-A valve mechanism comprises an outer stationary cylindrical casing 33, a valve 45, and an inner stationary cylindrical casing 40, having respectively inlet ports 42, 46, 41, of equal size, and outlet ports 44, 47, 43, of which the port 47 is larger than the ports 43, 44 which are of equal size. A valve 48, constantly rotated within the inner casing 40, 49, 50 and minor ports 51, 52. The ports 49, 50 are elongated horizontally to be longer than the ports 42, 46, 41, and 43 so that the valve 48 may turn through a large angle without diminishing the maximum flow, as determined by the position of the valve 45. The minor ports 51, 52 are brought into register with the fixed ports 41, 43, before the main ports 49, 50 are brought out of register sufficiently to reduce their capacity below that of the minor ports 51, 52.
