Abstract

Connecting cables to moving vehicles; taking up slack.-An electric traction system for direct traction ploughing and other agricultural purposes comprises a tractor provided with an electric motor connected through revolving contacts and moving cables to a source of electrical energy, the cables being suspended from a balloon. The energy conveyed by the high-tension line L is transformed or converted at a portable sub-station H and then passes directly to the cables C connected to the motor on the tractor, or indirectly to the cables 0 through cables I, or a portable overhead line, and a revolving brush contact F on a transportable pillar G. The cables C are connected to a column on the tractor by a similar revolving contact. A balloon D is applied midway along the length of the moving cables C to support them. It is also connected to a safety steel cable B and is fitted with a valve which opens if the cables are broken. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the system is applicable to operations other than agricultural. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
