Abstract

A stadium fitting stabilization system comprising a rail 12 having an upper surface 16, a front overhang 15, and a rear overhang 17; The system further comprises a support member 61 for securing a fitting to the rail. The support member includes a clamp portion 68 and a return portion 69 to hook over the rear overhang, an intermediate portion 70 resting on the upper surface and extending to a forwardly directed portion 71 beyond the front overhang, a pocket 22 defined within the intermediate portion, the pocket having an aperture (30, Figure 5) communicating with the upper surface; and a moveable insert received in the pocket and engaging the upper surface of the rail, the insert including a fastener which engages the moveable insert. Advancement or rotation of the fastener translates the moveable insert relative to the pocket, causing the moveable insert to exert an upward force on the support member and a downward force on the rail through the aperture, securing the support member against the rail. The moveable insert may be a wedge 20 having a tapered shape or a cammed insert (42, Figure 5) having a generally cylindrical form with an eccentric through bore.
