Abstract
An ablutionary system having a means configured to receive a water supply 107 and operable to provide a principle stream 109 at a controlled temperature, wherein the means includes a thermal battery 108, a fluid delivery device e.g. shower head 101 for emitting the principle stream, a receptacle e.g. shower tray 102 to collect emitted water, the tray having a waste outlet/ drain 103, a heat exchanger which receives water from the drain and receives a fresh water supply 104, wherein the waste and supply streams are in heat exchanging relationship, the heat exchanger producing a temperature adjusted water supply 107 for use in the thermal battery. The thermal battery may be encapsulated and include a phase change material e.g. wax, parafin, and may be heated by an electrical heating element during off peak times, or by a local source e.g. solar panel or turbine during windy or sunny weather, storing heat energy for later heating of water for a shower or faucet to minimise energy requirements e.g. at peak times.
