Abstract

A supermarket trolley having a fitted weigh scale positioned into the base of the trolley basket with an electronic system to compare the weight of customer scanned goods placed in the trolley with the weight generated and recorded by the customer operated barcode scanner. The trolley will also preferably have a wireless card payment reader, a battery pack and an approval system that is controlled by the shop security.

CLAIM
ANTI FRAUD SCAN AS YOU SHOP' Supermarket Trolley The supermarket trolley is fitted with a weigh scale dimensionally such that it fits closely into the base of the trolley.
The purpose of the weigh scale is to make an electronically controlled comparison check (to an agreed limi) on the weight provided by the bar-code reader.
The weight check will ensure that all goods in the trolley have been scanned to record the cost of each item for payment and its weight. When the customer presses the Completion of Purchase button (or during the shopping) a discrepancy in the weight comparison would immobilise the scanner, switch on the flashing red security light and alert security staff by wireless signal to investigate. A Green light would show system approval.
Design and construction is to standard cost effective mechanical and electronic engineering practice and environmentally to suit operational requirenients Easily replaceable dry cell batteries would provide the power required and trolley stacking facility SCAN AS YOU SHOP AND PAY Supermarket Trolley With a Card Reader attached to the trolley and the security of the Weigh Scale Check System a shopper could be enabled to complete their shop and pay by credit card, removing the annoyance of time spent waiting and pressure on checkout stations at busy times.
