Abstract
252,846. Wilson, W. April 17, 1925. Catch gear of mine-cage type comprises pairs of cam-operated sliding toothed jaws adapted on breakage of the winding rope to grip the guide ropes. Brackets D<1> on the cage carry a squared shaft F on which are mounted sliding toothed jaws C which are normally pressed apart by springs E and are adapted to be rotated through 90‹, when the winding rope breaks, so as to grip the guide ropes A by the action of springs D connected through arms H, G to the shaft, the jaws being simultaneously pressed on to the ropa by cams C<2> acting on projections C<1> on the jaws.
