Abstract
A transportable screening or sieving apparatus 1 comprises a feeder 5 (e.g. elevating conveyor) and a screen box 2 which are configured to move simultaneously between an open operational and folded transport state by means of a foldable framework. The framework may include a pivoted linkage frame 10 connecting the feeder 5 and screen box 2 to each other, and an extendable component 9A, 9B to jointly raise or lower the feeder 5 and screen box 2, depending on the desired configuration. Additionally an actuator (e.g. ram) is provided to help extend the extendable component 9A, 9B and raise the linkage frame 10.
Description
Foldable Framework for a Screening apparatus Back2round This invention relates to a Foldable Framework for a Screening apparatus for handling bulk material and especially in a portable or mobile format.
Screening apparatus commonly have a feeder and screenbox. It is known for such a fecdcr and scrcenbox to be foldable to facilitate transport of the screening apparatus.
Currently this would involve more than one extendable component connected to thc screening apparatus to raise and lower the feeder and screcnbox individually to facilitate transport height of the screening apparatus.
It would be desirable to raise and lower the screenbox and feeder in an efficient manner.
Statement of Invention
To overcome this, the present invention comprising one extendablc component and one linkage frame connected to the screening apparatus to raise and lower the sereenbox and Feeder simultaneously.
Advanta2es The movement of the scrccnbox and feeder elements of a screening apparatus is required to lower the transport height of the screening apparatus. This can be achieved by one foldable framework and one cxtcndable component as opposed to the mulfiple extendable components powered by actuators which are currently used.
Preferably the foldable framework will contain one extendable component connected to the linkage frame and the screening apparatus.
Preferably the foldable framework will contain one extendable component connected to the Feeder and the screening apparatus.
Preferably the foldable framework will contain one or more actuators to be the extendable component.
PreferaMy the foldable framework will contain one or more actuators to change the length of the extendable component.
Preferably the foldable framework will be connected to the screenbox which also has a pivot able connection to the screening apparatus.
Preferably the foldable framework will be connected to the feeder which also has a pivot able or sliding connection to the screening apparatus.
Introduction to drawin2s
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a mobile screening apparatus including screenbox and feeder embodying the invention, the apparatus being shown in operating state in which the foldable framework is extended.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a mobile screening apparatus of figure 1 shown in transport state in which the foldable framework is retracted.
Figure 3 is a side view or the foldable framework conncctcd to the fccdcr and scrcenbox and scrcening apparatus in operating state.
Figure 4 is a side view or the foldable framework connected to the feeder and screenbox and screening apparatus in transport state.
Detailed descrintion of the drawin2s Referring now to Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the drawings there is shown, generally indicatcd as 1, an apparatus for screening material, typically aggregate material such as sand, gravel, crashed rocks, stones and the like, The screening apparatus I is a mobile screening apparatus and is shown with tracks, although it may alternatively have wheels. The invention is not however limited to mobile screening apparatus and may equally be used with static screening apparatus, or indeed with other non-screening related apparatus.
The screening apparatus 1 includes a Feeder 5. a screening device commonly referred to as a screenbox 2. The screcnbox 2 has at least one. but typically a plurality of, screening layers, each layer comprising a screen typically in the fomi of a mesh, In cases where there are multiple screening layers, each screen has a different granularity so that material having different sizes can be separated. It will be understood that the constituent components that make up a screening apparatus, and their arrangement, can viny from apparatus to apparatus and need not necessarily be as depicted in Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4, which are provided by way of illustration only.
The screenbox 2 and feeder 5 embodying the invention are mounted on the screening apparatus 1 connected by a folding framework consisting of a linkage frame 10 and an extendable component 9A and 9B, Referring to figures 1 and 3 the screenbox 2 and the feeder 5 are shown in operating state with the extendablc component 9A and 9B ftilly extended, The screenbox support subframe 3 is connected to the feeder 5 via the linkage frame 10 using pivot able pin connections 12 and 13.
The screenbox support subfrarne 3 is also connected to the screening apparatus 1 using a pivot able pin connection 4. The screenbox support subframe 3 is also connected to the screening apparatus I by a pivot able sliding support ann II and may be locked in position with pin 7, The feeder is also connected to the screening apparatus 1 usrng a sliding connection 6 which may be locked in position with pin 8.
The linkage frame 10 is connected to the extendabk component 9A and 9B with a pivotable pin IS, The extendable component 9A and 9B is connected to the screening apparatus 1 with a pivot able pin 14. The extendable component 9A and 9B embodies one or more internal actuators to facilitate its extension to automate the invention.
Referring to figures 2 and 4 the sereenbox 2 and feeder S are shown in transport state with the extendable component 9A and 9B retracted. The extendable components 9A and 9B have a sliding connection to permit extension.
Starting in transport state illustrated in figures 2 and 4 die extension of the extendable component 9A and 9B raises the linkage frame 10 which in turn raises the feeder S pivoting about sliding connection 6 until the linkage frame 10 comes into contact with the screenbox support subfmme 3, Continual extension of the extendable component 9A and 9B will then misc the screcnbox support subframc 3 simultaneously with the feeder S to reach operating state as illustrated in figures 1 and 3. The screcnbox support subframe 3 and feederS can then be locked in position with pin 7 arid pin 8, Transport state is achieved by retraction of the extendable component 9A and 9B after the removal of pin 7 and pin 8.
The point where the linkage frame 10 conies into contact with the screenbox support subfrarne 3 colLpled with the connection of the extendable component 9A and 9B and the linkage frame 10 using pin 15 is the key to the operation of the foldable framework moving the feeder S and screenbox 2 simultaneously and a similar result can be achieved by connecting the extendable component 9A and 9B to the feeder 5 directly instead of the linkage frame 10.
