Abstract

The invention relates to a shower unit having a back plate 5 and a front unit (11 figure 2), whereby the front unit includes the main shower mechanism and the back plate includes permanent connections to an electrical 3 and water supply 4. Should the shower unit become faulty, it may be changed by replacing the front unit without the need to remove the backplate and without the need of professional help. The rear panel is permanently attached to the water and electrical supplies and once fitted, it does not need to be removed in case of fault with the main front panel. The front unit is removeably connected to the backplate by sliding on internal runners or tracks 6 on the backplate. The front unit is then held in place by push clips 1. The front panel will slide down the tracks and make the electrical and water connections 7 & 8 with the back panel, thus activating the mechanism to work.

Description

DESCRIPTION:
The invention relates in broad term to an instantaneous electric water heater/shower,the invention is based on the concept of an electric water heater which can be removed or fitted with very little or no technical experience.
The installation of electric showers and other type of instantaneous electric water heaters can present a number of problems for a novice or someone not experienced in such matters.
If a unit becomes faulty or develops other problems i.e the buildup of time scale or electrical faults, the unit requires an experienced electrician and plumber to attend the site and remove said unit from the wall and refix a new one, The works would involve electrical wiring disconnection and unless a stop cock is fitted nearby the unit also the stopping of the water supply to the unit which in most cases is normally the entire property.
Such works carried out can incur great expense which in the vast majority of cases actually exceeds the cost of the unit to be replaced.
Such works are now not permitted by law (Electrical)unless a qualified electrician can certify the works carried out thus restricting the chance of an individual to carry out DIV.
The invention in every aspect looks when fitted as would any electrical shQwer/water heater.
The unique nature of this invention is the ability of the novice or DlYer to remove and install a new unit without the need to instruct an electrician or plumber to carry out the works.
It also negates the need to resort to turning off water or electrical supplies to the unit in order to remove and replace it.
The unit consists as do all conventional shower units of two pieces, a back plate (5) and front plate (11).
The easy shower however unlike conventional unit does not have the main shower mechanisms fitted on the back plate (5) but instead on the front unit (11).
The Back plate (5) on this unique concept is a plastic back plate upon which the front unit (11) will fit, it has a permanent connection to the electrical supply (3) and water supply (4).
The first fitting of this unit as do all conventional units requires the skills of an electrical engineer and plumber, the difference being to all other units is that once fitted the back plate with no working mechanical parts will remain on the wall and will not need to be removed.
The back plate (5) will have two connections, one being an electrical connection (3) and one being a water connection (4).
Both connections will permanently remain live with no need to turn off or instruct an engineer in case of fault with front panel (11).
The back panel (5) has plastic runner tracks (6) on the sides in which the front unit (11) will be lowered onto the back panel (5).
As well as the runner tracks (6) the front unit (].1) also has proturuding push clips (1) which when slid down the track (6) retract in and run along the inside of the tracks until they reach the access holes (9) for said clips (1) in which the clip will emerge out thus securing the unit onto the back panel (5) with no chance of movement unless both clips (1) are pushed inwards and the front panel (11) is pushed upwards again retracting the clips (1) as the unit is pushed up the track (6) until it is released.
The front panel (11) contains a plug in electrical unit (7) similar in concept to a normal household plug and socket, the electrical supply (7) to the front panel (11) is only set to on when the front panel (11) is slid down the tracks (6) of the back panel (5) until the push clips (1) emerge from the locking holes (9) on the side of the back panel (5).
The electrical connection (7) as shown in the diagrams will insert in its host (3) at the same time as the 15mm pipe connection (8) within the front panel (11) is inserted into the push fit water supply (4) which is connected in the back panel (5). * 4
The water supply (4) in the back panel (5) is controlled via a water opening and closing mechanism (10) which can be switched on or off as need dictates i.e removing of panel.
The easy shower is a concept of a shower unit which after the intial fitting is created in such a way that the ordinary person with no technical experience can remove and install a new unit without the added expence of calling an engineer, also the unit has a much better green footprint than conventional showers.
A conventional shower unit when faulty is disposed of, this includes front and back panels, the easy showers back panel is almost a permanent fixture, thus reducing the need for disposal of plastic and reducing manufacturing of plastics to be used with the unit to over thirty percent of a conventional unit.
This green product not only saves the user money in installation costs but is well suited to the more environmentally friendly of users.
The unit negates the need to remove both parts as is the norm on all conventional units, once the back panel is fitted by an engineer it will remain attached to the shower wall, all the mechanical working parts are contained within the front unit which is easily installed via a sliding track and locking clips located either side of the unit.
The unit also has the added feature of being able to be removed (front panel) if such a time arises if a colour scheme of tiles or decoration is changed, the front panel will be available in a variety of coours and as the back panel will be concealed by the front panel its colour remains irrelevant. * 5
The front panel as it contains all the working mechanism if faulty can be ordered or purchased and replaced within minutes with no need to disconnect the water or electrical supply nor instruct engineers to attend.
